The university is rank 2nd in Australia and 45th in the world by QS. It was established in 1949 with the main focus on technical and applied sciences. The university ranks 250th in the world QS rankings and was founded in 1964 in the suburbs of Macquarie Park. It is locate just 15 km from the central business district and was the 3rd institution established in the Sydney metropolitan area.
